Denver & Rio Grande Western's steel cabooses were all black, and then later black with 2 small yellow stripes (indicating 'radio equipped') until they were eventually shopped, much later- and then painted variations of orange. This is a nice shot- and a sharp looking caboose ! Nice, simple paint scheme on this road- Santa rode in class ! Thanks for sharing.

Though I NEVER actually SAW one myself, reading indicates that the New Haven ALSO had a number of Black Cabooses with their block letters, orange & white "McGuiness logo" which were intended for use on "overnight" mail & express trains between NY & Boston. I would expect that they also appeared in other service.
