Thanks for posting a very interesting picture. I wonder about the common RR practice of leaving two diesel coupled back to back for long periods (weeks/months) and dispatching them when only one engine is necessary, as in the picture. The train has more, by over 1/3, the weight it needs and thus burns over 1/3 more fuel than necessary and produces over 1/3 more pollution. On second thought, probably eight tiny reindeer would do!
