The road number 9424 most likely makes the GP18 a former Illinois Central unit while the dynamic brakeless GP50 in Union Pacific colors must be ex-C&NW.

The Illinois Central also had their own method of securing open cab doors. Note the rod above the cab door. One would open the cab door, pull the rod up out of the holder from the ride side and move it to an opening on the inside of the opened cab door. Most locomotives have a small latch located at the bottom of the cab door for maintaining an open door. Most IC/ICG locomotives were modified with this "hold-open" rod. It was installed on both the front and rear cab doors.

I think I see an IC switcher at the end of the line. Such a sad sight.

Indeed it is ex IC and i can't think of another as built low hood GP18 of IC heritage any where, I have been trying for a while to get better shots of it and others here. Thanks for your intrest ect! The unit Ian is refering to (WM) is a former Chicago Central GP10 still in old ICG colors. It's been here for years/ Also the former G&O/G&F ex ICG GP10s in gray.
