That coach went straight to the nearest repair facility. When you have something like this ,is just a big problem to move it around the yard. Some times everithing around the bearing melts and the wheel does not turn any more. Great picture Bob! Saludos.

So somehow they got the cotton waste out of the journal box on to the ground so it would not burn under the car. Well, you were there at the right time. Thanks for posting.

While the CNW, MILW and CB&Q had their commuter trains with modern double deckers, the Rock Island still had to make do with 1930s era single level cars - very nice image of a railroad down on its luck even in 1962.
