As is obvious here, Rock Island modified its F2s from their as-built, three-porthole appearance, to resemble a Phase II, "Chicken Wire," F3. But internally they remained an FT in an F3 carbody, which the road used to split its four-unit, A-B-B-A, 5400 h.p. FT sets into two three-unit, 4500 h.p., FT A-B/F2 A sets. Here the 43 is doing just that with the leased GN units.
