Ooh, the memories...this exact spot was my second home between 1982 and 1985: I was up here nearly every Saturday at one stage. I used to cycle from Cheadle to Manchester (Vic and Picc) and then back via Longsight (and sometimes Newton Heath and Reddish). There could sometimes be a large crowd of spotters gathered at the eastern end of platform 11.
