Is your friend referring to the 999 or the bucket loader operation?

Norfolk Southern should get rid of this pandering to their enemies toy, now. But if they keep it, charge it's extra expenses to advertising and political blackmail.

A good example of why the best way to run locomotives using electricity involves third rails or catenary.

Not the way of the future! Conections in Altoona tell me the 999 does alot of sitting and not a lot of switching. Issues with "green" locomotives are becoming a common theme.

Good question. Do the batteries discharge that quickly?

You mean 999 can't run?

My understanding is the 999 has been just sitting in Juniata for quite some time, my connection at the shops told me it does not run. Now if that is due to mechanical reasons or other issues I do not know. I do know from personal experience that the “Green” locomotives are troublesome. Too much new technology all at once equals a lot of down time.
