Conrail pretty much had decided to drop electrically powered freight services right after EMD/GM built these units. Had they kept the old PRR low grade lines they might have kept electric freights, but they ran freight over the Reading's Lebanon Valley line, the Allentown line and the Lehigh Valley New York Division main (Except crossing the Delaware At Easton PA-Phillipsburg NJ) into Oak Island. Amtrak made them an offer that "big blue" wasn't going to ignore. These units ran well though, and if the market had been there, EMD had a winner in the GM6C. The GM10B was problematic, but "curable".

Great job, Tom... that's frankly the shot I had always hoped for, but never pulled off (never saw her standing still on a nice day).
