That has to be the mother of all Tehachapi photos! From Cliff ontop, to Caliente Narrows, I can't recall more rail miles condensed into one scene. This angle also makes the center hill look "small" and like a tunnel wasn't necessary. Very trick illusion!

This is exceptional. I have gone back to view it several times. Photographing from the ground at those places creates excellent individual photographs but this view captures exactly what the engineers building this line encountered from valley floor below. Shot makes me long for a long 3000 mile roadtrip. Maybe . . . . Thanks Roger.

Having visited there many times in the early eighties...I can certainly appreciate this wonderful view. One can also appreciate the work the original surveyors had to do in the nineteenth century. That certainly was an amazing accomplishment.
