I was on the pass west of Helena, Montana, while a train was pushing a heavy load over the new ribbon steel. It was dusk and we were working late cutting the old ribbon that had been replaced the week before. The engines were wound tight and the cars were so heavy and required two helpers pushing. As the train pushed, they dropped sand for traction and metal shavings were seen coming off the new steel. I'll never forget the sight!! Louis Partney
