In reponse to Arne's comment, per my understanding, the unit was sold by Soo to Dakota, Missouri Valley & Western, who sold it to NPR.

This just goes to show what can happen to locomotives that are sitting for a period of time, just like now with thousands of locomotives in storage. There is no telling on repair costs from what vandals have done to newer power in storage on UP & BNSF.
