A clue to it's identity may be found at The Randfontein Estates gold mine operated several ex SAR Class GMAM garratts, some with blue ends and others painted blue all over.

I suspect this is one of the GMAM's that was purchased by Dunn's Locomotive and Boiler Works in Witbank, from Durban Navigation Colliery in Danhauser, Natal. From Dunn's it went to Tweefontein United Colliery, which in the early nineties had eight GMAM's.
