Good thing I can still write since my jaw detached from my face in the drop to the floor...Outstanding Peter.

Though in consequential, it makes me wonder if this photo missed getting an SC due to the fact that your photo just prior did instead yet not in addition to. A ridiculously cool photo, expertly planned and followed through. Congrats!

The thumb on this one just screams "click me". Nice one, Pete! Of all of the places I have been to see steam in action, the C&TS is my hands-down favorite.

Agree with Mitch. Hopefully the screeners will decide to rectify the mistake by making this the next PotW.

I will add to the wow comment

Incredible shot!

I have not been doing much commenting lately but this photo deserves attention. I work nights and it’s late but I had to say “Great Shot!” This is one of the best photographs in the DB.

Truly a work of art....it's hard to capture the experience and feeling of that country, but you've actually done it with this image. Well done....

I used to try photograping sunrises behind church steeples, full moons between trees, Milkey Ways undiluted by other light sources etc and I know full well that the juxtaposition of the heavenly bodies with earth bound objects is the most difficult thing to do with a camera. It is all a matter of timing, these heavenly bodies never appear in exactly the same place day after day or night after night. Pete, I can fully apperciate your five year wait. Patience pays off. I doft my lens cap to you.

Very nicely done Pete. I've always wondered if this type of shot was possible. Thank you.

Looks like it was taken under the ocean. Pretty gorgeous.

Great shot Pete, can't add much more than what has already been said. Great shot!

Reminds me of a C.W. McCall song, about sitting under the night sky in the rockies, looking at the Milky Way. I'm sorry, but this has to be one of the coolest RRP.net shots I've ever seen!

Incredible - deserves POTW for sure - the hint of sunrise on the horizon; chains festooned with stary diamonds; the ghosts of this old watering hole hint at their purpose with the surreal look of a boiling caldron. This may be, not only, one of the most challenging, but certainly one of the most artistic photos in the DB

Amazing, Pete.

Absolutely stunning, Pete -- job well done on turning a dream into reality.

Pete, I once saw the Milky Way from a campsite at Mesa Verde, the only time I ever did. Your picture brings back those memories, a truly incredible vision.

Absolutely amazing! My favorite thing about this shot is how unique it is. There are not many places in the country where this shot is even a possibility!

Tell me a fool, but even by looking this picture I can smell the cool night air, feel the breeze on my skin and listen to the sounds of the night. But I can only imagine how good must be to be there. Thank you for traveling us to your magic night dear friend.
