Wow... Thought I was seeing the grim reaper until I viewed the photo. Spooky!

This muslim garb called a burqa is usually reserved for women only. Any male wearing the same would be considered a suspect anywhere else. Unless the woman is wearing male shoes. Something not right here. www.answers.com/topic/burqa.

I'm in Iraq right now and I can assure you all that women do not wear men's shoes. I'd take this picture to the authorities and report HIS behavior, just in case......

First picture of the day and I laughed until my side hurt. It's gonna be a good day. Thanks for sharing.

Nope, something's definitely not right. Funny how "they" waste no time jumping on railfans taking pictures, but a strange man in a burkha kneeling and praying on a platform doesn't pose a problem.

I would have to agree. This is rather suspicious and should be reported to railroad authorities.

First off, thanks to everyone who took a look at this and especially to those who left comments, as they are always appreciated. What really fascinates me about the comments on this submission is that some noticed quite accurately that the burka wearing subject in the image is wearing men's shoes, and they are correct, "he" is. The other thing I find interesting is while many would consider this individual to be suspicious and a threat based on what he is wearing, perhaps holding and what he appears to be doing, no one has commented on the GPS device that the guy in the middle (the individual facing the camera) has on his ankle, and this is the person in the picture that "I" would be keeping a close eye on. Over the last year I have conversed with “burka guy” a number of times and in my opinion, he does not constitute a threat to national security or the railroad and rest assured, the Fullerton Police are well aware that Death visits the station on occasion. Finally Thomas, I am glad that this scene brought you a hardy guffaw, as that was the reason I submitted this image and I thank the RailPictures.Net Staff for allowing it to be shown here.

That's not death, that's Emporer Palpatine!

I'm sorry. I just have to say this. I'm an OIF vet (2003-2004), this picture for some reason makes my blood boil. I don't know how to say anymore then that. It just gets me all angry and tense.

Thank you for your service and your honesty.

Watch out, there's someone expressing their Constitutional rights in a public place!

It's sad to see that so many folks here reacting to this photo in the way that they have; be it praying, taking a photo, or wearing traditional clothing, we all have a right to conduct ourselves in a peaceful manner on a public station platform without getting hassled or reported to the authorities.

Completely agree with the commendable thoughts of Nicholas Benson.

That is the conundrum faced by all who truly believe in the words and the meaning of the United States Constitution. It protects the freedom of speech and the right to practice one’s beliefs even when they are unpopular or repugnant to most of the populous. Like it or not, it is this idea, and that belief that makes this Country so great.

Shame on you posting through hate of rear or bigotry - it makes my blood boil to read the underlying themes in some of these comments. Nothing wrong with any person of any color, ethnicity, religion or different garb standing at a train station platform that serves the public in a country of diverse people. Historically, the biggest source of terrorism and or violent acts against this country have been from light skinned caucasian males that in appearance honestly look like the typical railfan.

Fascinating! Thanks for posting. Just goes to show you railfans can come from any nationality/ethnicity...

For the record ... "Death" is a railfan. Note the scanner. And a regular among the foamers who frequent the platforms in Fullerton. The bigotry on display here is sad.

I like the photograph; it's the implication of ridicule and suspicion in the caption--and in many of the comments about the photograph--that really disgusts me. At least the person isn't wearing tight shorts and top, for then the sexist comments could pour in. But, in that case, the view count would go through the roof. Enjoy the trains. Celebrate our freedoms. Even if folks don't look like you do.
