Nice shot, Joe. Great timing! Congrats to Steve and "the Friends" on their purchase of MILW #261! She's in good hands now, and for ever more! Regarding donations, since the money to rebuild her went into the purchase instead, here's a quote from Steve himself:
"Through the years of negotiations, many people came to me and said, 'If you ever buy the engine, let me know and I'll make a donation.' Well, now I'm asking those people and anyone else who will listen that we need their help if 261 is to run again." www.261.com

Yes she is !!!! No more owners to deal with, own it themselves and sounds like they are still looking for more stuff to restore. But they used a lot of their money to purchase her, so they need money to finish the restoration now !!!! Donate now !!!

Great news and congratulations to the Friends of the 261. From Trains magazine's news wire... http://www.trains.com/trn/default.aspx?c=a&id=6775 "While Sandberg's group [Friends of the 261] now owns the engine, hurdles remain. The group had to use much of the cash it had originally earmarked to restore 261 on the purchase, which means it now doesn't have enough money on hand to complete the rebuild. Sandberg said that while crews will resume work on the 261's rebuild immediately, the group would also concentrate on fundraising."
