This is CC70002, one of two prototypes for the production CC72000 class of diesel-electrics still in use today, hauling a train between Paris and Basel, Switzerland. The production units were powerful locomotives in the 3600hp range, and they were and are used in passenger service as well as on freight on SNCF's non-electrified lines for forty years. They are now in the process of being retired and some have been preserved already.
