What a great capture of what became known as a "SWEEP." Originally built as CNR 1238, this rebuild at St Charles Shops placed the generator and hood (among other things) of a GP-9 on the original SW1200RS frame. Photo clearly shows the removal of dynamics, mounting a high efficiency air filtration system in the hood "blister." Note also that the 1987 rebuild retained the lightweight "branch line" Flexicoil trucks. Thanks, Pierre, such detailed photos are hard to find!

Nice one Pierre...Savage Railway (CANAC) operates at least 3 of retired ones that I am aware of. 2 here outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. One in Utah.
