Was the unit actually dented up or was it painted that way? Some of the marks almost pass as the work of a paint gun.

From previous pictures of AWVR 777 (and her twin) this has been staged like this with identicle damage showing on the front of both locomotives. It's always nice to see conituing photos of these movie star locomotives.
