Chuck, I'm really enjoying your vintage "slide show" and please continue to share with us! One interesting and ironic fact about the 6600: it and sister 6601 were delivered in December 1979 as replacements for SD40s 736 and 766, which were both destroyed in a horrific head-on collision at Malacca, Michigan in January 1979. Additionally, the July 12th collision at Gilchrist also claimed GP38-2 4408. (Information obtained from the Spring 1998 edition of "The Soo" magazine, the official publication of the SLH&TS)
