And unfortunately. probably new horns (say good bye to the classic Chessie K5LA's and Seaboard Leslie 5's). Dont care for the looks of those AC units up top either or the E-bells. However they do look sharp in the new paint, I am glad CSX is putting money into old standard cabs. Good shot Chase.

Its cheaper than a new engine so that is great maybe they can do this to the SD40's and the GP's

Re: horns on the SD50-3's: Sadly, yes, the Leslie 5 and 3 chime horns are being removed per CSX guidelines. When CSX did the decibel testing, the horns used in the tests were Nathan/AirChime products. CSX standardized on the K5LA type horns years ago. CSX applys the AirChime K-Series horn to any locomotive that does not have one, as they know that the K5 type horns meet the FRA guidelines for horn loudness. The Leslie horns are old, and many have failed - CSX just doesn't want to fool with them. While it's sad to say that, it's true. You will find, however, some of the Leslie 5 chime horns moved back on standard cab EMD locomotives every once in a while if you know where to look. Shhhh.... don't tell anybody ;-)
