Marty, as a former part owner of the Tamalpais for 20 years, it's nice to see a picture of her posted at Railpix. We had a lot of good trips on the old girl. You might want to check your facts regarding the direction of the train and what railroad used the upper deck tracks. The train appears to be southbound, and I believe the user of the upper deck tracks was the Interurban Electric, an SP subsidiary that quit circa 1940. The number 33 on the Tam was a nostalgic reference to her former life as ATSF 33. Her actual reporting mark was an Amtrak number, 80033 if I remember correctly.

Good Morning John, oops, right, it's the southbound Coast Starlight. Fixed that. I have never heard that the platforms were anything else that the Key System's. For a better picture of the Tam that day see: http://railfan44.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1125021
