Would be a nice photo to send to their parents, and to the CN Police Dept.

What would a fast train do those youngsters ? Would not be a pretty sight. I see that Neenah has plenty of it"s Village Idiots left, but for how long is just a matter of time, if they keep doing this. I once had two young lads of Junior High age pass me when I was trackside. They had spent quite some time around a Southern Railway main line switch where double track went back to single track. When they passed me walking north, they looked down at the track and would not look me in they eye. I decided to go and see just what they had been up to. When I got to the switch, I found two used switch bolts that they had placed one on top of the other in the switch frog's flange groove. I removed them, and contacted the local S.R. police officer the next day. We were able to identify the boys in their school yearbook. Southern Railroad police officer Sam O'dell stated that he would deal with both sets of parents.

Posting this picture in no way was meant to get anyone in trouble, public or railroad. I think this is a fact of life in Neenah with these kids. It would though be very tragic for a RR crew to be involved in any type of incident with pedestrians. But I think dealing with the parents would be futile, as anyone who watches their kids would not allow this. Its too bad this has to happen because sooner or later a fence will be installed full length of the yard and any photo opportunities will be gone.

To steal a quote from Ferris Bueller's Day off- " I weep for the future..."

That is the reason why 95% of Britains railways are fenced off. It is almost impossible to get trackside.

It would not surprise me if the crew onboard the EJE 674 already did contact the local police department to report what was happening. I have lived in Neenah a few years back and I do know that the law enforcement in this area can be very strict when caught trespassing on railroad property. They do tend to patrol this area quite often but the question is, did they get away with what they did in front of a photographer who they did not know and for the most part did not care about. Any kids that see this shot should now think next time they want to trespass on railroad property, especially when there is a person with a camera nearby because it may be the last time they get away with doing this.

If the kids keeps that up the train will send them to the moon on their bikes.

Oh brother. Are you telling me non of you have never crossed main lines like that? When I was a kid I lived "on the other side of the tracks" and that was what we did. I even crossed cuts of stored cars on yard tracks with my bike. Although I never cut across a train on a mainline. Dumb? Certainly. But this type of activity goes on all over the United States on an hourly basis.

People over react way too much with these photos; things like this go on everyhour of the day. Used to do it all the time when I was young, not anymore however unless necessary like being out hunting and having to cross in the middle of nowhere.

I will not lie, when I was a kid I crossed the tracks all the time. Heck, I still do. Stading and playing on them is a problem, but just a bunch of boys waking their bikes across the tracks is nothing to be hassled over. Poor chaps have no idea they have a picture of them online.

Railroads are private property. Would anyone overreact if they had been mown down by a GP or other fast moving loco - period.

It's understandable to cross the tracks when they mainline is dead or mostly inactive (like the one in my town) but these kids should be more careful if they're crossing an active freight yard.
