This curve is an example of what handicaps the old New Haven Shore line. FL9 and E8 led trains had to slow to 40 MPH, then slow again for the drawbridge (Westbound) or be forced to explore short time ratings of the FL9s (eastbound) while trying to achieve 40. The Eastbounds here did 25 with FL9s, 30 with PRR heritage E8s, an F40PH could not equal an E8, despite having 750 more horsepower doing 20. The lost power given over to the HEP hurt their performance in places like this.
