If you wanna compare "...stop(s) at the very short platforms...", check out the one westbound at Middletown, PA. IF the engineer spotes it correctly - which is very difficult as it is on an upgrade banked curve - the platform will JUST hold the trailing door of the leading car, both doors of the spotted car, and the leading door of the next car. Those Philly - Harricburg Amtrak engineers are artists.
