What a wonderful view, most of us in North America have probably never seen before. Perfect image for a 112 degree fahrenheit day in Vegas!

Wonderful shot William! I had to take a double take when I saw the date and snow on the ground. First thought was where the heck is that. It would be strange coming from here in Illinois where it's the middle of the summer and going to New Zealand where it's the middle of the winter. PCA vote from me!

William. Many the time I have been climbing and tramping in Arthurs Pass. The railcars in the 60s and 70s would stop right here, at about 8pm at night and we would get off and tramp to the nearest hut to wait until first light to go climbing. That drop on the left of the line is quite impossing from a guards door in the pitch black of night with the snow around. We used to be able to request the railcars to stop and pick us up after we had been in the high peaks for day or too. For the adventure racers, the valley straight ahead is where the Coast-to-Coast race is run (in the summer) and the rail line turns hard left at the end of this streight, and drops down through the Otira Tunnel of 5+ miles in about 5 miles distance. The grade here is approx 1:60 so it is a stiff climb.

William - What a beautiful snow covered scenic photograph! The scene is absolutely stunning with everything covered with snow (including the nearby power lines) and the clouds clinging to the mountains. The white a black color tones definitely add to the photo - they are excellent. Great shot and thanks for sharing.
