I enjoy the action and tight cropping of this photograph. Even more, however, is the timeless pose of the fireman. For some reason, most firemen revert to this pose during resting: arms crossed and leaning on the sill. Love the shot!

Thanks for the comment. I wonder if the arms crossed on the sill is due to the lack of anything else to lean on in the cab. I also assume the fireman has his head out the window since the front of the cab where it meets the boiler and the associated piping would be frightfully hot while the train was standing still. I just can't imagine how those crews ran these engines through the Mojave Desert in the Summertime.
