Take note to the 4 pipe trainline MU hose system. We railroaders have not seen this in many years!

At one point in time The Louisville & Nashville had some of these leased due to being short of motive power. During this time period they managed to bash in the nose of one of them. I remember seeing a photo of the L &.N's repair job which resulted in a slightly different looking locomotive. Everything from the front of the cab back, stayed the same. The L & N could not find an Alco Century Series short hood, so they simply used a short hood from a GE U-25 that they had on hand and returned the repaired unit along with the rest at the end of the lease.
