Only two things in this photo look good, the leader and the boxcar. The gates and the former DMIR loco just don't fit the picture as looking good or even appealing. Great Shot!

Where is the conductor? He/she needs to be flagging the crossing if the gates have malfunctioned.

In response to the previous comment and in the crew's favor, I will say they probably had no way of knowing the gates weren't down. They appeared to being moving along at 20-30 MPH and the gates initially worked. The crew would not have been able to stop and flag the crossing in time after the gates failed. This is likely a product of this very lightly used portion of the line seeing minimal maintenance and laying dormant for a long while still operated by NS. The CLNA seems to be in the process of upgrading its crossings but the economy is bad and this line doesn't see that much traffic to begin with.
