I think the purchase was good and will bring jobs and a rail infastructure better than it was.I feel that Metra will benifit and will run New routes never done before bring even more jobs.Even though over time the loss of some of these old beauties will see newer more economic train going through and will give railfans an even bigger longer trains for photograph.
I think the Canadian National Illinois Central division of Canadian National Railway is a good move and allow for better movement of goods across Canada and the United States of America.
The Chicago sector of the rail industry has been in decline for some time now and I see this as a New Breath of Life in an otherwise falling railway system.
