That looks like a buffer car behind the NS. Anyone know why they use a buffer between these locomotives when normally we can hook up several back to back. I've only noticed this on export moves. Thanks and nice catch.

I assume that the buffer car has a compatible coupler adapter on the ES40aci side... I believe the couplers are more of the Euorpen style.
