Why doesn't he just ride in the cab? Much more comfortable and safer in the cab I would imagine.

"Gotta protect the point", lol. He'd get pulled out of service for riding a tank car like that on the BNSF, they (trainmasters) say it's "riding on the end of a car", which is complete B.S. They want you to ride in the bottom stirrup, not very ergonomic.
