This is an Illinois Central Gulf Paducah Shops rebuild. ICG designated these as GP11 locomotives. ICG Paducah-rebuilt GP11 locomotives were numbered in the 8700-series.
The GP16 is a product of Seaboard System. Clinchfield Railroad had a few GP11 locomotives. These were also built by ICG-Paducah. CSXT dropped the GP11 designation and re-designated them as GP16s to fit with their GP16 program.
