A big rig would be another name for a semi or tractor trailer, google it for pictures.

Any details on the accident anyone?

This is the third "New" locomotive by the third different railroad that I have seen damaged. One CN ES44 was involved in a grade crossing accident, one KCS ES44 was involved in a large derailment and now the NS 2662 which I had seen in primer a few years back on the UP now has damage from a grade crossing accident. Glad to see someone with a shot of her post the accident.

Based on the mechanism of impact, I would guess that it hit a 'low boy' semi trailer (carries crones, earth movers, etc) at grade. The trailer's integrity is such that impact could 'curl' the plate steel under like this while missing the coupler. The load (if there was one) could shift and cause minimal damage to the front of the locomotive from the impact. Just a guess.
