I can barely see it, but I do see the CSX building in back of the train where I was in 1986. I spent a whole day at this crossing in the summer of 1986 photographing Seaboard and Chessie (mostly Seaboard) trains. The gentleman in the building was OK with my being there although I doubt that would be the case today. That former B&O main line is where I managed to get a great sunset shot with three Chessie diesels. Thanks for reminding me of Vincennes!

Lisa, thanks so much for the comments. I haven't sat in Vincennes a tremendous amount, but so far have had no problems with the RR or local authorities. The gentleman photographed was sitting closer to the signal, but backed up to us to either chat or move out of the way of our picture taking. Either way, a friendly chap whom we enjoyed chatting with for a few minutes. It's a pity nearly the only train now pounding the B&O side is V502. a coal train that comes over from Washington IN to go north. The photos you captured from 1986 are certainly priceless treasures!
