What a wonderful photo Brian. 2 crimes have been committed since, however. The first is that this loco has steamed once in 46 years, and the second is that Bold colliery and Power Station were closed, along with most of Great Britain's pits, thanks to the Thatcher government. At least the 'Schools' has a chance, eh?

Nice photo, Brian. She's a classy looking steamer and love the backdrop. She has an ever so slight resemblance to a Milwaukee Hiawatha 4-4-2 so in that respect, I'd say some steam is better then no steam. Despite the background, I'd pray to see her back in steam sooner then I'd see Pigs on the Wing.

Brilliant - "Southern Railway - Serves The South" - Well, close enough - Love this photo either way.

Brian, Thanks for posting this shot which brought back a few memories of the fantastic weekwe had when Bold Colliery was like a multi regional steam shed,we had a lot of fun. That Schools was not in the best of health, only one working injector, that was the exhaust steam one and that would only pickup between 150 and 170psi. I doubt it would get on the main line these days. When I told the driver (Ossie Finn) we only had one dodgy injector he said nothing was going to stop him driving during such an historical occassion and we'ed go come hell or high water.
