Just a point of information, an "electromotive" is a diesel-electric locomotive, which is in fact, an electric locomotive that produces its own electricity for the traction motors. That is why the diesel-builder GM-EMD had the Electro-Motive name. A straight electric locomotive, like this EP5 (not an EP4, which was an earlier model GE) requires an external power source, and collects its current from overhead wires and/or a third rail. Therefore, New Haven's EMD-built FL9s are diesel-electric/electrics, because it functions as an electromotive in non-electrified territory, and as a straight electric, when powered by a 600-volt d.c. third rail.

Donald great shot, I've never seen such a good picture of the old line to Oak Point. I spent the first 18 years of my life about 200 ft behind were you where standing for this shot. Man have things change!
