Beautiful shot; nice zig zag arrangement of the lines, including those in the clouds; interesting mix of muted, lifeless colors and tones.

I would imagine the cars are just stored due to the lumber/housing and economic downturn, they will no doubt be carrying freight again in the near future. Excellent shot by the way, it really catches the bleak, desolate feel of the High Desert in Winter.

Awesome photo! I checked out the line on Google Earth, measured the line of boxcars and they reach almost 4 miles long! Quite impressive, the google earth shot was taken in 2006 so cars may have been added or reduced since then. Great catch!
