Any serious student of American railroading in the 20th Century would have to applaud this image for its pure history alone. Barriger was indeed the father of the "super" railroad. I think he would appreciate the way the industry has adapted to 21st Century transportation realities in this country. That said, I doubt very many of the younger railroad enthusiasts in this country would know who Barriger was, let alone his major role in defining how railroading is today.
