This is one of the Morrison Knudson/Boise SD45 rebuilds that got a radiator section from a 3000 h.p. GP40, so that its bigger, SD45 radiator, could be applied to MARC GP40s that were being rebuilt for Maryland commuter service at the same time. The MARC units needed the larger radiators of the former 3600 h.p. units, to cool the added HEP powerplant. The MARC units also got F45 noses and cabs in that remanufacturing process.
