Thanks for posting this! My grandmother and her parents were from Newcastle upon Tyne. As a little kid I was given a color postcard of this junction but I was too young to responsibly save it in a safe place.

I remember that crossing when I was younger travelling to the 'Toon' if you had fell asleep on the train the crossing woke you up with a start! To see the crossing today just google earth 54 58 07.35 N 1 36 43.62 W it is very different today.
