Wow... certainly a testament to how much snow was falling on Donner!

That train was actual stuck up at Troy for nearly ten hours. Which explains the large amounts of snow that accumulated on the locomotives. I dont remember the exact reason, but I know that the tractor incident at the lower cascade bridge, and the large amount of snow had put a hamper on train traffic. The railroad was actual shut down due to snow for a little bit as well following the tractor incident.
