Who in their right mind would paint a locomotive pink? It surely doesn't look like faded red. It looks like it was done intentionally.

It's actually faded red oxide primer, never received a "proper" coat of paint. What is even more interesting is that this is a slug, and has been split from its mother.

Somehow I like to use the term slug for a parasite without a cab and "snail" for one with. Maybe it'll come into common usage.
