Interesting shot. I wonder how long it took them to clear the canal. That track doesn't look heavy enough to hold a train. No wonder it derailed.

In response to a few other comments; the track in the foreground looks to me at least, some kind of hastily constructed trestle to move equipment to the accident site - probably only to withstand the weight of a wagon or two loaded with materials and probably pulled by a horse.

It definitely looks like the bridge collapsed. You can still see a bit of it below the driving wheels.
