Somebody has got to have......well, something to be shooting here. Great composition that runs much deeper when one thinks about it. Thx.

There has to be a story attached to this - please Gianfranco, tell us what it is - if you can. Shots of Syrian railways are not exactly common, this one is top notch, and steam to boot

Wow, so desolate, and with the barbed wire, the thought that comes to mind is ... concentration camp. A moving scene.

Great photo thanks for adding it. As the other's have said I would also like to hear the story behind it.

A fascinating, yet erie composition - in 2007, it's hard to believe such a past remains seperated only by a barbed wire fence.

It looks really lonely. I thought it was a picture of a concentration camp.

This is a picture of a diferent age. I love the colors, I love the steam locos, I like the small house - military post. The barbwire makes the picture look so forbiten and that is what it makes it so exeptional. Great work friend. Propably you had a hard time getting this without being noticed. P.S. The barbwire does not indicate a concentration camp people. Too many hollywood movies make us think differently. Barbwires exist in all military camps arround the world. It is amaizing who much TV twists our way of thinking. I had the exact same thought the first time I saw this picture.

I am back from a Syrian and Jordanian steam rail tour organised for all people interested in steam trains. During this tour we also were in a Syrian military rail station and there we took some pictures of it. I naturally want to point out that we had no problems there and Syrian staff was extremely kind. All members of our tour were welcome and we were totally free to take all pictures we wanted.

It was my personal choice to give a dramatic cut to this picture: I just wanted to give sensation of a restricted and forbidden area.
