NREX 1287 is a former Union Pacific switcher rebuilt to SW10 specifications, most likely from an SW9. The major visual change is in the cooling system, where a GP7/9-type radiator set-up, with electrically-driven fans, has replaced the large, front-mounted, belt-driven style, typical of EMD SW-type switchers. This particular example, based on it's paint scheme, came via the Canadian Pacific, which bought a batch of the rebuilt yard units when UP inherited hundreds of newer, SW/MP15 types through merger.

Canadian Pacific it is, as I can still see the lettering under this paint job.

Actually, a bunch were leased long-term to CP, but only a few were ever repainted and used, and not much before they all left CP.
