Roanoke is the other way - surely this coal is intened for the 611 and 1218! Nice catch there, Aaron. Note the car is still marked for N&W!

Interesting shot of dust blow-off which is a worldwide problem with coal trains. In the UK my former employers EWS Railways, were threatened with legal action by trackside residents for damage caused by coal blow-off - including damage to houses below viaducts and occasional minor injury to passengers waiting at stations. Various things were tried - fitting canopies to the wagon sides to minimise air turbulence, and spraying with a chemical of some sort before departure. Neither were 100% effective. This picture will certainly prevent railroad companies from pretending it isn't a problem - not to mention a loss of payload in transit which will cost them money. Bob, UK.
