During the fall of 2006, it was an actual train. It ran with one of the F40M-2s and two coaches. Ridership on the run from Alamosa to Antonito was very low, but Iowa Pacific management (parent of the SLRG) is committed to keeping the link between their operation and the CTS at Antonito in place. I guess this is a more economical way to do it, though betting it's quite a surprise for folks expecting a train. Thanks for posting.
