What can I say? A railroad photo without a train, a railfan, or a sign. I've only seen a few similar "behind the scenes" shots on here. I like it. PCA vote.

Black and white is always good on shots like these. Almost single handedly foreshadows the fact that towers are a rarity these days.

This tower now has the unfortunate honor of being the FINAL operational armstrong (Electo-Mechanical) tower in the NATION, with the closure of CSX's Z Tower in Keyser, West Virginia (currently in progress as of this writing).

There are a handful of other mechanical lever frames in North America, but Ridgely is the last such machine that actually has moving pipe to operate switches. The rest use strong-arm levers to operate electric contacts.
