Those signals look the same as when I last saw them in the mid 60s. At that time, the switch and signals were controlled by the operator in the Tara depot using a desktop lever system (like that shown in picture 144049--the levers were the short, upward version and were mounted in what looked like large, black lunch boxes.) In the late 60s, control was transferred to the operator in the Ft. Dodge passenger depot, who used a small US&S CTC board. As far as I recall, this was the first true CTC installation on IC track on the Iowa Division in Iowa.
