It is my understanding that these units were referred to as "greehouse" cabs. Upon closer observation, there are glass panes surrounding the cab. These 4,000hp diesel-hydraulics were a money-pit for both Espee and Rio Grande.

I have never seen these units before. Thanks. Does anyone know when this area was demolished. I remember as a kid, circa 1985-1986 sneaking around a roundhouse in San Jose this must have been the area unless there was more than one in San Jose.
